Three predicted Stories

There is a good chance you have never heard the name Yi Sun Shin. There are great men in every culture of which Americans are unaware. Understandable, but here is one you would truly have profited in knowing. unmistakably equal to the likes of Sir Francis Drake and Lord Nelson - some say first-rate to these western naval stars - Yi towered above the petty power-seekers of his day and became a hero popular of all.

Imagine it. Twenty three major naval clashes with the Japanese who had invaded Korea in the late 16th century. Twenty three victories. After the Japanese landed and destroyed community after village, even to the taking of the capital, the first inescapable news that came to the King of Korea, in exile, was that of Yi's first battle that crushed a fleet of Japanese vessels.

News North Korea

So you expect me to say that Yi's popularity landed him titles, riches, honor. In fact, jealousy among the ranks led him to prison in the midst of his finest triumphs. That, to me, is the most staggering and awe-inspiring part of his story. The seeming failure in the midst of all the triumph.

Consider one Jesus. Healer, comforter, gentle Teacher. Blind eyes made to see, broken hearts forgiven, hungry mouths fed, all by His compassion. Anyone who had faith to receive something from Him, did. Victory after victory. Never defeated.

Then hung on a cross.

Hmmm. That last line doesn't seem to fit either. Seems like we should rip that part of the story out, as Peter tried to do before it even happened. "Not you, Master! Stop talking negative things!"

Incredible stories, these. Yi Sun Shin, Jesus Christ. No, they are not in "the same boat" in terms of significance, I know. Yi Sun Shin's resurrection from prison to return to the battle front and continue his unbroken string of victories is great history and very inspiring, but cannot be compared to Jesus' rising from the grave to give life to all who will receive Him forever and ever. But the parallel is there.

But my title promises three staggering stories. Stories of persons who were staggering in their feats, staggering in their defeats, but somehow rose again. The third story is being lived out as I write. It's going on in North Korea, among those we label the "baekjeong", the low class, because we do not have the same sense of high and low as Heaven does...

The lowly Christian believers of that land do exploits every day. Looking adequate food to eat. Working long and hard hours in a mine for money that is not adequate to sustain their families. Worshiping considered and hidden, so as not to incur the wrath of a hostile government. Hiding Bibles and guests. Yet victories. You would expect that man somewhere would honor these folks and call them heroes.

Unfortunately they are called by at least two governments traitors and criminals. Escapes are often tragic in outcome. Many end in death. All end in some sort of wrenching separation. Even coming to the "free" world can mean enduring suspicion and persecution by those who ought to know better.

So why call this an staggering story along the lines of Yi and Jesus? Because those who are right will be raised up with Christ. Their story is not yet complete. It is the lowly for whom Jesus came. They are the only ones who will see thier need of a Saviour and continue to the end. High-born materialists have only a puny chance of manufacture it, according to Jesus.

High, low, baekjeong... Do we unmistakably know what these words mean? And "incredible".. Can your story and mine be called staggering when compared to the ones I have described? Have we known the sense of defeating the enemy while a long and difficult war? Have we seen the Power of God move through us to convert our sphere of influence? Have we then been sent to additional humiliation instead of the bonus we expected?

May we hunt our hearts daily, and always be a friend to the lowly Christ Who still works His wonders among us in the form of Baekjeong...

North Korea - God's Open Door procedure

North Korea calling? To those who would touch a needy nation I offer the following:

An available position does not always mean an open door. Men can open doors too. And shut them. The doors that God opens cannot be opened by men. Or shut.

News North Korea

Look at it this way. Guys that are blessed with looks, charm, and all the rest, will have any amount of "open doors" into a woman's heart. Although these are issues with which I have never had to deal, I can well imagine a line-up of females, each one telling my heart, "She is The One." At least, in my dreams I can imagine such things! Are all these women to be his?

Or try this. A multi-talented man seeking employment will face the same dilemma. He will be hunted down like a white-tailed deer and pressed into any amount of services. Are all these jobs "the right one"?

But reconsider Paul (I Corinthians 16:9). "An open door has been set before me, and there are many adversaries." That is true vision. Paul was not "excited" about going straight through his open door. First he was unmistakably invited. Then he was persistently determined. He did not see all happy scenes. Paul's foretold and actual ministry was a series of predicted victories coupled with predicted suffering. Those who go straight through open doors because they are "excited" about "helping Jesus" need to go sit under a tree somewhere and count the cost. If the cross is not a part of the final tally, and so-called "call," it is probably a human door, not a Divine one that is presenting itself.

Also, doors in the Scripture are entry-ways to the furtherance of the Gospel, not personal furtherance. When the "vision" sees a human (usually yourself) elevated and Christ negotiable, it's not God's vision. When one sees a road of hardship but Christ lifted up, good things can follow.

There are, I have found, many doors open to North Korea. I have leaped for joy to know I can be of use in this dry and thirsty land. It would be the same for anyone reading who wants to go. There is something for you to do! But which door is yours? I counsel myself and anyone who cares to listen:

Walk carefully in the Spirit before the momentous decision is made. Listen carefully to what God is saying and to what assorted men are saying too. If the "call" does not "fit" and you find yourself volunteering to do man else's work just to "be used", much damage can come your way, and to the ministry.

The Lord of the harvest knows just where we belong. Some of us may well be asked to stay right here and pay the bills of those who go... But if Christ is glorified, so be it.

Bottom line, Lord save your people! Lord deliver the prisoners! Lord, anyone it takes, whomever it takes, any way you want it done, oh just do it!

Rapture Or Second Coming? A Sixth discrepancy Refuted

Is there a Biblical unlikeness between the "rapture" and the "second coming"? To show that such is the case, our brothers label the rapture "the blessed hope" , a term used by Paul in Titus 2:13, and then they assure us that the final arrival could not be a "blessed hope" for the few Christians who live to survive the devastation of the Tribulation. Again here is the using of the conclusion as part of the proof. The pre-tribulationists are the ones who have divided Jesus' arrival into two parts and assigned them names. The Bible nowhere does this.

But I fear there is even a greater lapse in logic by our esteemed brothers in this text. It would seem to me that the greater the tragedy, the greater the hope. As Jesus wipes away the tears of Tribulation saints in Revelation 7:13-17, He is truly received as a blessed sight. How much the saints will be affected by all that goes on during these dark years is not clear. We are called to be persecuted, but not judged. God will sort that out. But we will go through it. And we will be greeted by a loving Saviour who understands, because He went through earth's rejections. It seems inconceivable that believers snatched up before the suffering could receive a greeting that matches this one.

News North Korea

The mentality that our brothers echo here borders on that elitism that is prevalent among us in the Western Church. Why do we think we are not called to suffer when the Scriptures repeatedly say we are? Those that suffer with Jesus will reign with Him. But what of those who wish to be caught up before it all begins?

Bethel ministries says on this topic: "Persecution and martyrdom is, in fact, the New testament norm... Peter wrote, 'For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow in his steps.' (I Peter 2:21) ...Some church leaders teach that believing in an imminent pre-trib rapture will sway Christians to live holy lives. But the Scriptures teach, referring to the heavens and earth being destroyed by fire [and not the catching up of the bride], 'Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, seeing for and hasting unto the arrival of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?...' (Ii Peter 3:11-14)

"There has never been a time when so many Christians believed in an imminent pre-trib rapture and yet the twentieth-century church in America can be characterized by almost whatever but holiness...Paul said, 'We glory in tribulations...tribulation worketh patience'... [Jesus said] 'In the world ye shall have tribulation...' (John 16:33) 'We must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.' (Acts 4:22). 'Blessed are ye, when men shall ...persecute you.' "

Who has more of a "blessed hope" ? The one who looks transmit to no tribulation, or the one who is in problem now, but is assured that soon the troubles will be gone? The soldier who "hopes" to fly the draft or the one who hopes for the end of the conflict in which he has participated fully? The farmer who "hopes" no bad weather will destroy his crops, or the one who has bravely fought the elements and now sees the fruits of his labor about to blossom in spite of all of nature's blast?

Oh saints! When we sit in a dingy prison cell for our faith in Christ, when all of those whom we hold dear have been taken away, when our stomach is bloated from hunger and our body is mangled from beatings, what a blessed hope is ours! Christ shall come and issue us! Christ shall come and restore our Heavenly family! Christ will come and feed us with His own manna, and wash our scars and heal our bodies and we will be with Him forever! Could whatever be more of a blessed hope than that?

And is it not equally true that those least seeing for that "blessed hope" today are those for whom life is comfortable and secure? Why "hope" if we have what we need already?

There plainly is no unlikeness between the rapture and the second coming. Together, they are our blessed hope!

World Cup 2010 hereafter Bets

Now is the time to get your World Cup Bets in! How about 200 to 1 North Korea Beats Brazil! No? Okay, how about you put up a 00 to win 0 Brazil beats Kim Jung Il's team? (Can you believe North Korea is in this?) How about this one, 7 to 1 Switzerland beats Spain, better? Maybe? Did you know you can currently get 5-1 odds that the Usa Men's Soccer Team beats England in Game 1. Why is this a good bet? Or is it? Is it worth a bet?, I think so!.

Lets look at what the Us Men's team has done in the year 2009. First of all they lost the Gold cup final to Mexico 5-0. 5-0?? Are you kidding me? Yea they lost 5-0. Why is this good news? Well its not great but that was with a younger team, less perceive than the team they are sending to South Africa and without our best Goal Keeper Tim Howard, they did make to the final. Ok now, the Us Men's team made it to the final of the Fifa Confederations Cup. That is right, The Final! Okay so we got our butts kicked by Brazil and Italy like we should have in group play.0-3,1-3 respectively. Any way the tide turned on Italy who ended up getting beat by Egypt! So the the Usa Men's team needed to beat Egypt by 3 goals in order to advance, and they did it! The entered into the next semi final round. They beat Spain!! Of all teams it was Spain and they won, 2-0!! Usa then gained a shot in the final against Brazil. Well I am sure most of you were not under a rock when they took a 2-0 lead on those guys only to ultimately comprehend that they are Brazil we are just the Usa, and what are we doing important you 2-0 in the final of a soccer game? Well, Usa lost 3-2. Anyway it was a huge lift for Usa just to beat Spain, and to go up 2-0 on Brazil.

News North Korea

Which takes us to World Cup Qualifying. In case you did not know, Usa Mens soccer won their Qualifying group going 6-2-2. With the top goal count the most points and tied with the two other teams that are going to the World Cup in Goal differential.( Mexico and Honduras). It was not so easy but they did it. The Usa Men's soccer team is good! Midfielder, Landon Donovan is as good as they come, along with now world class Goal Keeper Tim Howard, striker Jozy Altidore, Brian Ching, Conor Casey and a host of other very good players, ready to strut their stuff for the Usa. So I am sure you will hear more about the Us Men's Soccer team advent up in the near future. You could stake a claim on them Right Now! at 5-1 that means you can put bucks on the Usa to beat England in Game one of Group C ( tournament game #5) June 12th 2010 an take a occasion on winning .00.

North Korea - Holiday in a underground State

First of all, and the examine that many population ask me when I tell them about a trip I made back in '05: Why the hell did you go to North Korea?! The rejoinder is simple: I like to do things a exiguous differently. Most population think a great holiday is sitting on a beach in Thailand for a week, burning themselves and getting hammered every night, waking up colse to midday etc. I would much prefer to see places and do things so that when I come back from my holiday I've got a feeling of accomplishment. I wasn't precisely finding at holiday destinations when I was browsing the Bbc news website and a story about Dprk's nuclear ambitions when I saw a link entitled, Holidays in North Korea. In that description I read about a business called Koryo Tours and from then my interest rose hugely. This company, run out of a Beijing office by 2 British guys, arranged visas and did quarterly tours to Dprk throughout the year, while which you had the chance of visiting and finding things most of the world will never see. This was right up my street, and I exchanged a bunch of emails with one of the guys, getting more facts on the trips and what was inherent (unfortunately no diving was allowed, by I did ask and they did enquire!). In the end, I settled for a 6-day May Day Stadium tour of the country, flying into Pyongyang and advent back by train to Beijing. Not only would this tour include finding some spectacular and rare sights, but there was also the anticipation of going to see the World Cup Qualifying match in the middle of Dprk and Japan, to be played at the country's May Day Stadium. This is the biggest stadium in the world, seating over 150,000 people. To put it into perspective a little, it is over twice the size of the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea.

I did a exiguous study about the country, and although facts is fairly limited, I managed to pick up an exquisite voyage guide and Dvd documentary about the country. First of all, the Bradt voyage Guide to North Korea was an exquisite resource, both before my trip and while my Travel Tours Thailand) because of crowd trouble in a former game. Some population were unhappy with this, but there precisely was nothing we could do. We could complain and be grumpy Straight through the whole trip, or we could make the most of what we would see. Even though the Kumsusan Memorial Palace of Kim Il Sung could not be visited due to renovations, I still knew this would be an unforgettable journey. With that in mind, 2 days later we boarded the twice-weekly Beijing-Pyongyang flight, courtesy of Air Koryo.

News North Korea

Now, when you voyage somewhere, there are clear signs that your trip is going to be an eventful one. Being on an flight to one of the most secretive countries in the world, sat in in the middle of a guy from the World Food Programme an an Ethiopian arms dealer is one such sign! But this was the situation in which I found myself, sat in this plane right out of the 70s. But to their credit, both guys were very friendly, although the Ethiopian did bend the truth slightly, saying he was visiting Dprk on holiday. It was only later I found out he travels there almost every month, and all the time says to population he's going on holiday. I wonder how big the North Korean tourism business is in Ethiopia. The mind boggles. There was also a Spanish guy on the flight in a communist-style suit with a big medal, who told us he was connected to the Dprk government. We were told by one of the tour business guys to steer clear though, so I kept my distance.

The first thing you see when you get off the plane in Pyongyang is a huge photo of Kim Il Sung on the roof of the airport. As I looked back at the plane, I noticed the air crews pouring water on the smoking plane tyres! Think person might have landed a exiguous too quickly! Other than that, the flight was great. Every person was slightly confused as to why the landing gear was lowered at about 20,000ft, but who are we to tell the pilot what to do! In the airport, bags were collected and items such as Mp3 players and mobile phones were handed in to customs officials as they are not allowed in the country. Contrary to beloved thought though, camera and video cameras were fine to bring in.

The guides introduced themselves to us, and our main guide was a woman with exquisite English, called Mrs Lee. She was an awesome guide... Very friendly and knowledgeable about everything. She was one of the government-appointed guides, but talked about all things with the minimum of bias and the top number of information. She'd obviously met quite a few tour groups, and was full of questions about our families and what we did in our home countries. A few population brought photos of our photos and lives from home, and it was a nice feeling to introduce them to her. There were precisely 2 guides appointed to our tour group of 20 people. There were 2 reasons for this I think, neither of which was that they could spy on us better! Firstly, the group was quite big and they wanted to carry on Every person in the best way. The second reckon could be (and I compel to add that I don't know this for sure) that the 2 guides could censor each other. If there was only one, then it is inherent that they could say something negative about the country or its politics; with 2 population there is all the time person else listening. We also had a cameraman walking colse to with our group, who would make a Vcd of our trip that we could purchase at the end of our trip. That was a nifty exiguous idea, and I said I would definitely like a copy of that.

One of the first things that hit me as we entered Pyongyang on our tour bus was how clean it was. There were lots of people, both adults & children, who were pulling up weeds along the streets and paths by hand. Technologically-advanced, this city is not, but it looked friendly adequate so far. None of the soldiery parades of huge missiles clear so far, that you commonly see in the western media. Our first stop on the tour was Fountain Park. This was a wide open space (Pyongyang has a lot of these) with many very large water fountains, along with some gorgeous statues of women dancing. There were a few kids walking colse to and we managed to get some friendly acknowledgements from them by smiling and waving. The power of a smile, even in the so-called Axis of Evil, is immense. A small group of girls were walking across the park and they came over. One of the girls proceeded to give us a 2-minute jamming session on her guitar-like thing (can you tell I don't play music?!) while her friends looked on. As advised, we asked for permission to take some photos of the girls and the surroundings, and then started snapping away. To be honest, there were not the restrictions on taking photos that you might expect. Of course, nobody tried to take photos of soldiery installations or personnel, but whenever we asked to take shots, the rejoinder was all the time "Yes".

From the park, we headed to our next stop (and the most prominent stop on the tour): the bronze statue of Kim Il Sung at Mansudae. For those of you unfamiliar with Dprk's history & politics, Kim Il Sung was the leader of the country from 1948 (when the country was founded) until his death in 1994. Following his death, there were 3 years of valid mourning. This period of Kim Il Sung statue at Mansudaetime with Kim Il Sung's mourning, coupled with bad harvests and declining living conditions, became known as the oppressive March. The statue was said by our guide to weigh as much as all the hearts of the Korean people. Note that the word "Korean" was used to signify both Koreas. In Dprk they still say that Korea is one country, and that they will reunify in time. colse to the statue are 2 other monuments, both depicting population fighting in the Korean War (called in Dprk The victorious Fatherland Liberation War) from 1950 to 1953. As the statue, a few of us bought flowers and laid them at the front of the statue, before walking back and paying our respects by bowing. This was the first chance I realised that some population might not be considerable to a trip to Dprk. You have to go Straight through the bowing to Kim Il Sung, and just accept it, even if you don't approve of the leadership of the country. It is all about showing respect and politeness for a foreign country in which you are a rare guest. It's a similar deal with the stories that you are told. Sometimes they seem far fetched, the guides know they sound far fetched, you know they do, and the guides know that you know. But the key is just to play along with it, take it in with interest and use your head a little. A couple on our tour tried to ask questions that were pushy or embarrassing, and all that did was make the guide flustered and upset at us. Nobody benefited and, most likely, Every person lost out. So if you do consider a trip to this spellbinding country, bear that in mind.

The hotel we stayed at was the Yanggakdo Hotel in central Pyongyang.  If you go to Dprk, you will most likely whether stay here or in the Koryo Hotel.  This hotel is exquisite and is on its own island!  It has a 9-hole golf course, cinema, football stadium, casino, rotating bistro at the top of the hotel (this is a recurring theme), and pretty much all things else you could want in the hotel grounds (so tourists wouldn't be tempted to cross the bridge into the capital itself?).

The hotel also has 47 floors and colse to 1,000 rooms.  But the thing is, there were only colse to 25 population staying at the hotel, and in our tour group population were sharing rooms so at the most, 20 rooms would have been occupied.  All our group were settled on the 25th floor, and population were development frequent comments about what could maybe be on the other floors.  As far as I know, nobody was brave/foolish adequate to try and find out.  Although the hotel was much akin to a ghost town, the rooms were nice and clean, and offered a great view of the city, together with the Juche Tower.

While we were going to evening meal on the first night, we were told that there wouldn't be few, if any shows or festivals on at the moment, due to Every person working in the fields.  At that time, the university had complete and a number of government offices had been complete as population were mobilised to plant rice due to fears over food shortages.  Having seen similar stories about China, this seems to be the communist way of dealing with problems like that; throw Every person you can at it.  It might not be so productive and is precisely not productive or economical, but it is what they do.  It also shows the Juche, or self-reliance, ideology advent to the fore.   Our venue for evening meal was the National Restaurant, and we were the only guests there.  This was also a tasteless theme - we were the only population dining out.  Although this isn't hugely surprising, and I doubt if we were not visiting the bistro would even be open.  The food was pretty good actually, and it was clear they were trying to showcase Dprk's fine dining.  It made me think and reflect a exiguous though.  They were serving up some of the best food they could offer in the country to us, and yet so many population in other parts of the city are coping on tiny rations of rice and vegetables each month.  Again, it's one of the things you just have to accept while you're here.  with evening meal was live music, by a group of women in former Korean dress.  The songs were revolutionary songs, and the music had a definite Russian feel to it.  I looked colse to for copies of "The Best Songs Dedicated To The Great Leader and The general Album... Ever!!!", but alas it was nowhere to be found.  We did quit that the drummer constantly looked like she wanted to just start thrashing the drums, rather than stick to the quarterly tapping of the cymbal.  Not sure what the state of heavy metal music is in Dprk, but she'd fit right in.

Going back to the hotel, I had a couple of beers before heading back to my room.  Once there though, I was able to turn the lights out, open the window and gaze out into the night skyline.  If you do that in most cities, and especially capital cities, you can hear road works, traffic going past, loud music etc.  In Pyongyang it was almost silent.  You could hear a couple of voices drifting over the water to the hotel, but other than that it was quiet.  There were relatively few lights advent from the large number of structure that were a kilometre or two away.  For some reckon I woke up at about 4am in the night, and once again went to the window which we'd left open.  finding out, you could see nothing - there wasn't a particular light illustrated and the only sound was a dog barking somewhere in the city.  Very eerie, but a spellbinding experience.

Woke up early and switched on the Tv in our room to get a fuzzy Bbc World transmission (Dprk don't pay for any Tv rights, so they have to unscramble the signals as best they can themselves I believe).  There was an proclamation that it was International Environment Day, which was suitable as I was probably in the cleanest capital city in the world.  Pyongyang makes Tokyo look like a trashy dump, and I didn't see a particular piece of litter on the road throughout my whole trip.  someone else thing Pyongyang has is vast open spaces.  It is reported that according to Un environmental statistics, Pyongyang has the largest number of green and parkland per person of any capital city in the world. The skies were blue, but it was pretty hazy and you could only just see over the Taedong River and into Pyongyang.  But after breakfast, that was our destination and first up was the Juche Tower.

An offspring of communism, Juche is summed up quite well by Wikipedia: "The core principle of the Juche ideology since the 1970s has been that "man is the specialist of all things and decides everything"".  The most spellbinding features of this structure are all to do with numbers.  The tower was created in celebration of Kim Il Sung's 70th birthday, and the construction has 25,550 blocks (one for each day of Kis's life).  The tower is precisely made up of tiers: on the north and south side there are 18 tiers and on the east and west side, 17 tiers.  Add those up and you get the magical 70.  Also, at the base of the tower there are flowers carved (the Kimilsungia) into the stone.  35 flowers on the east and west sides gives you... You guessed it, 70.

The views from the bottom were pretty good, but the panoramic views from the platform at the top of the tower were breathtaking.  You could see the whole city, although there you could see virtually no cars on the roads.  There were a couple of bicycles, but almost no motorised transport.  Following the Juche Tower, our next stop was the closeby Korean Workers Party Monument.  This was erected to celebrate 50 years of the Korean Workers Party, and again the numbers play an prominent role.  The top of the hammer, sickle and brush (denoting the 3 classes of population in society) are 50m high, and the diameter of the monument is also 50m.  The history of the Party is written in bronze letters on the wall of the monument, and the size of the things has to be seen first-hand to be appreciated.  The population built this in one year, which goes to show how productive they can be when given the resources to play with.

After finding a exiguous our of the city, we headed out of town, past Kim Il Sung University, and went to Mt Taesong and the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery.  Here, colse to 200 martyrs of revolutionary fighting against Japanese Imperialists are buried and remembered.  Each martyr has a statue made from copper and all the busts face Pyongyang, positioned so that each one has a clear view of the capital.  Pride of place at the top of the cemetery goes to Kim Il Sung's wife.  In the cemetery, sombre revolutionary music player (I'm sure, solely because we were there), which gave a strange feeling to the whole event.

Lunch was taken in the (rotating) bistro at the 230m tall Television Tower.  A rickety old lift got us up to the top but it must have been the slowest lift I've ever been in!  It took about 3 agonising minutes to get to the top, with the constant fear that the string that was pulling us up could snap and sent us plummeting to our clear doom at any time!  But we made it to the top and the views were spectacular.  The food was, once again, the best that Dprk had to offer, and our after lunch entertainment was karaoke courtesy of the 2 waitresses who'd been serving us.  A smile towards one of them ended up in her keeping my hand while she sang her song (I'm sure talking about the greatness and wonderfullness of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il)!  I was slightly distressed that I might have unknowingly just joined the Workers Party of Korea, and wouldn't be allowed to leave!

First stop after lunch was the Arch of Triumph in the middle of Pyongyang.  Sound familiar?  Well, you might think of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and when you look at this arch you'd be forgiven for mistaking it for the Parisian landmark.  This arch was modelled on the one in France, but built bigger so that the claim can be made that this is the largest stone arch in the world.

You'll notice that Dprk likes its world records.  The arch was pretty impressive, as was standing in the middle of a 3-lane road for minutes while taking pictures of it, without the slightest fear of a car coming.  Try doing that in London!  On the photo to the right you can see the Arch of Triumph in the foreground, but I expect many of you are wondering what the triangular-shaped construction is in the background.  Well that is a secret for now, and all will be revealed in part 3 of this travelogue.  Rest assured, it is definately worth waiting for!  Near the Arch of Triumph is someone else stadium in Pyongyang, and exterior the stadium were some population preparation their gymnastic disposition for the Mass Games.

We headed back out into the sticks after finding the arch, and towards a Buddhist temple.  On the way, we saw loads of population working in the fields, even on a Sunday (their supposed day off while the week).  This was real subsistence agriculture though; you saw oxen pulling makeshift ploughs Straight through the soil and in some places it just looked so dry and barren that anyone would struggle to grow there.  The temple itself was quite interesting, although not as much as the sights I'd seen previously in the day.  Apparently, Buddhism was the main religion in Dprk before the Juche idea was put forward.  I have read conflicting evidence about this though, & there are many reports that religion is banned in Dprk, despite what we were told by the guides.  I can't description whether way though - I'm just stating what I saw and keeping unbiased about everything.  After the temple trip we headed back into Pyongyang and it got a exiguous surreal.  We were taken to a clothing export exhibition, which showed examples of the garments that they had exported to other countries (mainly sportswear).  They gave us examples of the countries they exported to (e.g. Uk, Hong Kong, China), and we were then taken to a shop where we could buy some Dprk authentic clothing!  Other were sceptical but I just jumped right in and guy myself a T-shirt!  The whole trip here was as if they were saying, "Look at us!  We furnish things that other countries want and need!".

A 30 exiguous bus journey led us back into the country and over to King Tongmyong's tomb.  The guide at this site wasn't an English-speaker, but our resident guide translated all things for us.  We were shown colse to the tomb on King Tongmyong, who lived colse to 5,000 years ago.  It was apparently he who set up the nation of Korea, and who founded the first capital city in the country.  In the grounds of the temple, there were 3 artists painting the scenery (by chance, or told to be there?).  I wanted to think it was the former, and the pictures were pretty good so I bought one.  Hopefully not all of that money would go right to the government.  I got the artist's name on the photo and had it dated, and I gave a gift to the guide for showing us around.  The result: I had someone else Dprk girl keeping and stroking my arm as we walked back to the bus!  So much for being told we would have very exiguous contact with the locals.

In the south of Pyongyang is the Mangyongdae Shrine, which is where Kim Il Sung was born and where he spent his early years.  The house he was born in was fairly humble and it sounded like his house was quite poor.  The house's setting was now in a park and was precisely nice to walk colse to in; the walk to the viewing area was interrupted only by a couple of squirrels and chipmunks crossing our path.  We were told that Koreans didn't visit the house after Kis's death because they wanted to keep it in a pristine state.  Not sure if that is strictly true, but I just nodded and smiled and took it all in.

I'm out of words just about for this article, but once it is live here I will submit the next part.  Thanks for taking the time to read it.

World Cup 2010 time to come Bets

Well its not great but that was with a younger team, less caress than the team they are sending to South Africa and without our best Goal Keeper Tim Howard, they did make to the final. Well I am sure most of you were not under a rock when they took a 2-0 lead on those guys only to finally perceive that they are Brazil we are just the Usa, and what are we doing important you 2-0 in the final of a soccer game? Well, Usa lost 3-2. Anyway it was a huge lift for Usa just to beat Spain, and to go up 2-0 on Brazil.

News North Korea

Which takes us to World Cup Qualifying. In case you did not know, Usa Mens soccer won their Qualifying group going 6-2-2. With the highest goal count the most points and tied with the two other teams that are going to the World Cup in Goal differential.( Mexico and Honduras). So I am sure you will hear more about the Us Men's Soccer team coming up in the near future. You could stake a claim on them Right Now! at 5-1 that means you can put bucks on the Usa to beat England in Game one of Group C ( tournament game #5) June 12th 2010 an take a occasion on winning .00.

What's Going on in North Korea?

This is the quiz, that everyone keeps asking me!

Although it is an perfect question! Nobody knows for sure...well nobody covering of North Korea anyway!

News North Korea

Will there be an additional one war?

Well, as they say, "That is so last century!" In fact, the one that was started back last century (1950) has never ended! It's an armistice. A truce; it is not a treaty to end a war. So we have been at war with them for 59 years.

Why is Seoul settled so close to the border?

You have probably heard that Seoul is only 40 miles from the North Korean border. Yep, just a short missile toss from the most militarized border in the world. I guess the real quiz, is, Why is the South's capital so close to the border?

Well, we have to look at history for that; Seoul has been the capital for colse to 500 years. After the Japanese occupation and Second World War two regimes sprung up on the Korean peninsula. The Communists to the North and a Democratic regime to the South (South's regime turned out to be an additional one dictatorship, but that's not for today's discussion.) So whoever controlled the old capital had or at least seemed to have a more legitimate claim to be the government of Korea. So the South Koreans were kind of stuck with keeping the capital here even though the Americans and others recommend they move the capital.

What's China going to do?

I am not sure what China will do, but I am pretty sure I know what they are not going to do; they will not let the North's regime collapse! And there are three good reasons why!

1. If North Korea collapses there will be millions of refugees crossing the border into China seeing for food.

2. South Korea has huge investments in China and the Chinese are concerned that if The North and South Korea reunify, South Koreans will pull their investments out of China to spend in the North.

3. If South Korea takes over the North, China will have an American ally right on their doorstep.

Hawaii Earthquake, News From the Big Island

The 6.6 Hawaii earthquake October 15, just a tad after seven am in the morning was on Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii, we live on Hilo side. I got up to get my morning coffee, and being a Southern California native, as the house began to shake I knew exactly what it was. Our house seemed to breath with the movement as major beams shifted and stressed. We could hear crackling throughout the house as the hanging lamps swayed. The Big Island has an active volcano so we feel small earthquakes tremors quite often, but a 6.6 is quite a hefty jolt.

Our dinky animals, Gracie, Charlotte (the cats) and Maxwell (the dog) kind of freaked out. While the ground was shaking I saw Charlotte by the window looking frantically into the house as if to say,

News North Korea

"Hey! Do you see what is going on out here? Let Me In! I Promise not to eat Iki!! " (the bird).

I could only stand there under the doorway of protection not knowing just how bad the quake might become. After the second aftershock we went covering to associate with Gracie, Maxwell and especially Charlotte. They were all very needy and wanted extra pats and attention. Hours later they seemed to have forgotten the whole ordeal.

News reports interviewed a lot of habitancy who worried we had been hit by North Korea. Tourists ran from the beaches to higher ground, worried about a tsunami, which was probably a very good idea. No tsunami was to be foreseen, it was later announced.

Television stations were down except for a couple. News began to come in speaking only of minor degrees of damage to houses and roads with fallen trees, in time that evaluation would elevate.

The power on Big Island was lost to almost 45,000 people, 58,000 on Maui, and 291,000 on Oahu. Lines formed down the block at Abc market on Oahu, habitancy were allowed in by fours to purchase water, snack items and batteries. They also lined up at Subways to get food before they ran out. Other restaurants tried to sell their goods swiftly because of the loss of refrigeration.

Newscasters requested that habitancy not drive their cars or use their phones. Outgoing flights were cancelled but habitancy still flocked to the airport possibly wishing for a quick retreat.

The nearest town to us is Pahoa, less than two miles away. We had no idea how the main-street shops, built around the twenties, had fared. I drove straight through it yesterday though and it all looked as quaint as ever. I did not talk to shop owners to see if there was damage I had not noticed. The Post Office was as packed as usual so I guess life goes on in Pahoa past the Hawaii earthquake.

The local news now shows pictures of roads with huge cracks and even a historic church made of stone now crumbled in a heap. A Hospital was forced to move patients to an additional one facility due to earthquake damage. One question that remains unanswered is what the work on this will have on our active volcano if any.

Last night, October 16th we had a 'huge' thunder and rain storm. News alerts broadcasted flash flood alerts. You might imagine, Iki (the bird), Maxwell (the dog), Gracie and especially Charlotte (the cats) had a very restless night and probably wonder if the Hawaii earthquake was causing the sky to fall. Not to worry though I just fed them a lovely breakfast and every person seems fine, along with Iki (the bird).

The Story of Chosun, Part 28

It is the final decade of 19th century Korea, as we pick up the story  following - but not quoting - authors Hulbert and Oliver.

With pressures to modernize the aged nation, the King on Korea's throne, Kojong, initiates some reforms. There are to be no divisive parties, no excluded or exclusive castes. The government of Korea is to be given to good men. All documents are to be dated from year 503 of the Chosun dynasty. Time to begin anew.

News North Korea

The oft-discussed ex-regent is elevated yet again. But he is to be under Japan's thumb, lest he bring the nation backwards. Disgusted with this new arrangement, the Queen, conservative by nature, recedes from politics altogether.

Prince Kunmung meanwhile rises to power with Kojong while the Japanese military is in control.

"The machinery was now all unblemished whereby Korea could be governed properly," says the historian. But as happens so often in this inconsistent land, strong pressure behind the scenes begins to move things in the opposite direction.

In 1895 all sign the Treaty of Shimonoseki, which puts an end, for awhile anyway, to China's status in Asia and specifically on the Korean peninsula. Japan seems to be going somewhere. Soon, the Japanese conquer Manchuria, the territory north of Korea, in what is today China. Someone else treaty: the Japanese are given Formosa by China, and the Chinese lose all interests in Korea.

Japan reinstalls Buddhism in its conquered lands. It won't be the only Japanese religion to confuse the citizens of Chosun over the years.

Yet Someone else cholera epidemic sweeps through Seoul, the Tonghak attempts to rise but is crushed. But the big event of the duration is the assassination of Queen Min.

A new Japanese minister, Viscount Miura, arrives in Seoul and befriends the ex-regent who is not on amiable terms with the Queen. This, while the Queen's friend and maintain is sent to America. There is some strangeness about what happens next, but it is well known that the Queen is in the way of progress. Miura is approached by the ex-regent who has a plan. Some historians say that Miura was the instigator of the meeting, on behalf of the Japanese government.

The outcome is not in doubt. The Japanese are to allow assassins to come into the Korean palace. After her cruel slaying, the New York Herald tries to wire the story, but is blocked by Japanese agents. Instead the story is transmitted by wives of missionaries who know the queen.

Three Japanese are later executed by the Japanese government, but many believe they probably were not the murderers. Japan in fact never does formally admit complicity. Miura beyond doubt blames Koreans for the atrocity. In 1896 there is a court investigation in Hiroshima. Then the King investigates. But he goes through Korea's Japan-dominated courts and of procedure the findings are the same.

More and more the king is a puppet and a captive in his own realm. When a mob storms the palace, he takes asylum in the Russian legation. This is at least part of the background for the enmity between Russia and Japan that will follow.

Meanwhile, the world's opinion, per historian Oliver quoting Lord Curzon: "The spectacle of a country... Well-endowed with resources, yet crippled by want of funds...is one to which I know no counterpart."

He refers to the fact that much money is wasted on the wrong kinds of things, at last allowing a neighboring nation to enslave it.

In our day, the North Korean government continues to enslave its population by lavish spending on military to the demise of its agriculture

This is a nation that needs yet Someone else new beginning. Oh may Christ have His chance to speak to these population the way of life.

Wikileaks and the International community

Recently I've had some friends advent me with questions pertaining to international relations, specifically the recent actions of North Korea and the infamous Wikileaks release. These two topics in the past week have been twisted and misconstrued, leaving people with a poor opinion of the situation. First we'll gawk North Korea and their recent assault on South Korea on the Yeonpyeong island, which resides in disputed waters that North Korea claims are rightfully theirs.

North Korea has a unique type of government being classified as a 'ohereditary dictatorship, which is ruled with a troops junta and has a centrally planned economy. I hesitate to call it communist, only because technically the communist movement is international, while the North Korean government consists of maintaining a singular state presence. The valid name is called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (Dprk) which is of policy is irony at its finest inspecting it has one of the most repressive regimes of modern history.

News North Korea

The artillery barrage from last week marks one of the most aggressive moves the Dprk has made to its southern neighbor, claiming that the islands south of the Northern Limit Line belong to them. However, there are ulterior motives at work here: North Korea has no interest in beginning a regional war, especially one that they would verily lose. North Korea's internal stability like all nations in the world revolve colse to keeping their populace content, of policy each nation has their own schedule and how they view a problem. For the Dprk it's simple: they face chronic food shortages which lead to inflation in the cheaper and at last stagnation. In expanding to this, some reason that the assault is plainly associated to the succession of Kim Jong-il as a test of strength, which could be true as well. No singular reason can elucidate this event easily.

North Korea's diplomacy in the past has been one of aggression to bring key nations to the polite table. In response to this, Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, and the United States formed the six-party talks in hopes of halting the cycle of violence. For future details, the New York Times has an interactive timeline showing the more leading events with the clashes in the middle of the two Koreas, together with the six-party talks. The most recent incident is nothing new, with North Korea wanting attention and polite power by threatening war; however, it's no underground that the leadership wants direct talks with the United States. This would enable the Dprk to cut a deal so to speak with the United States on the trade embargo imposed on them and the foreign aid they receive, instead of getting their requests watered down in the six-party talks as mentioned before.

Hence, North Korea has nothing to gain for beginning a peninsular war with its southern neighbor, since even China, their closest "ally" in the loosest sense wants to forestall this at all costs. Having North Korea engage in a war means refugees crossing into China controlled Manchuria; a logistical and domestic nightmare. It would also mean American troops being stationed directly on China's border, which would ruffle the feathers of the Chinese leadership. Finally, North Korea would most likely not begin a nuclear assault on the United States because, not only does their missile technology pale in comparison to ours, but they would also never be able to come to any polite table from the international community.

In relation to this, we know from the Wikileaks fiasco that China is having second thoughts when it comes to their alliance with North Korea. The Dprk is proving to be too troublesome and closed-minded even for Chinese standards, damaging their relations with the international community and their slow transition to democracy. For now, the best policy of activity for the United States is to continue the six-party talks and have direct discussions with the Chinese leadership over North Korea. Only China can rein in their unruly neighbor, which would dramatically change the dialogue of negotiations inspecting they're North Korea's main trading partner.

This would not be the first time Wikileaks has given the group way to high level polite information; in fact, the website is beginning to change how the group views governments and the complicated relationships in the middle of them. If you are fully unfamiliar with Wikileaks, here's what you need to know: Julian Assange is an Australian people who is the editor-in-chief and spokesperson for the website Wikileaks. The website, through varied internal sources predominately in the United States Military, obtains and releases sensitive high level data on government operations which only until now have been quite serious. The servers are placed throughout the world and the legal status is complicated to say the least, any way if one could label a headquarters it would be Sweden due to their strong laws to safe confidential journalistic sources. In fact, one of the main computer servers has been described as a James Bond villain style bunker, placed 30 meters underground in a Cold War facility.

It's hard to judge if Wikileaks is legal, any way it is providing what many see as a veil lifted from the public's eyes on the inner workings of governments. Congressman Ron Paul was quoted on the subject saying, 'oIn a free community we're supposed to know the truth, in a community where truth becomes treason, then we're in big trouble. plainly many, together with most notably old Canadian government adviser Tom Flanagan said that Julian Assange 'oshould be assassinated, though most government officials view Wikileaks as a protection risk, potentially ruining delicate balance of polite relations.

Regardless, Wikileaks has given journalists, bloggers, even commonplace people a wealth of information to analyze and digest. Frankly, there is so much more I could write and reason on but for now expect Wikileak documents to be part of my regular diagnosis in the future. This article was intended just to introduce whatever to the website, and of policy use its cables to elucidate China's relationship with North Korea. In turn, North Korea's recent actions are unacceptable to the international community and the six-party talks should resume with China in singular taking the lead in condemning the attack. Only China can effectively neutralize the Dprk's leadership, development them think twice about future attacks, lest they risk their trade relations and whole economy.

North Korea - One interesting Spot

"The church of Jesus Christ is the one bright spot in the present dark photograph of Korea." That was said 54 years ago by missionary-author Arch Campbell as he wrote of the devastations that followed the North Korean assault of the South. He offers many examples of this brightness.

The sounds of population praising Jesus from inside a boarded up house, "Yesoo, Yesoo, kweehahn Yesoo...," ("Jesus, Jesus, costly Jesus...").

News North Korea

An amputee proudly showing off his push cart store that allows him to make a living. He received an artificial limb, and thus the ability to run such a business, at the Christian Amputee Center.

A small "church building" made of scrap lumber from the packing boxes of the American army. The roof, rusty corrugated iron, fully penetrated by bullet holes. The remains of a suited North Korean church now reduced to refugee status and maybe 20 people. But faithfully carrying on, joyful to be serving Jesus.

Orphans, found by the population of God, embraced, loved, brought into God's kingdom by the thousands, as slowly the Christian world hears of the awful tragedy and insists on being included in the healing.

I don't know a lot personally about the "innards" of North Korea today, but I speculation to say that "the church of Jesus Christ is the one bright spot in the present dark photograph of [North] Korea." That's just how Christ is.

Somewhere in the mountains outside Hoeryong a man of God secretly ministers to God-hungry prisoners in a attentiveness camp there. I'm sure of it. And life is passed on, and many go into eternity rejoicing that they found life before they found death.

In a settlement in the Northeastern section of the country, I am positive that citizens returning from a stay in China, where they were confronted with the claims of Jesus, now pass those claims on to brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and more.

Somewhere in a field, a child runs across a bright orange balloon covered with Bible verses or a huge bag of tracts for distribution by her parents. Others receive radios whereby they can plug into the Gospel story. All because Jesus will not allow any nation to perish in the darkness without affording some light.

All we ask in our prayers is that that light be allowed to shine a small brighter. A few more transformed lives, a small more of the glory of God on a few more faces. And then a small more. Eventually, night becomes day.

We love you, North Korea. We'll keep praying for you.

They say that buyer confidence accounts for at least one-third of the operation of our economy. Those who study currency flows and the strengths of economies realize that the enter theory works only because habitancy trust it to work. Perhaps, this is why the news is so important and what is in the news creates perception, which then becomes a reality.

As an illustration of this let us look at some of the headlines for February 13, 2009 as a case study and reconsider what this means for our future:

North Korea building long range missiles; test coming, still enriching and nukes

Recently, Iran launched a satellite into space, this multi-stage type rocket is the exact type of rocket needed to fire an Icbm nuclear tipped warhead. Iran is enriching uranium and although running out of "yellow cake" they do have adequate for many nuclear weapons and now have a rocket capable and proven to scare anyone who is their enemy.

Now with regards to the North Korean war machine; North Korea is nearly there and they do have nuclear weapons capability. Rogue nations with nuclear weapons will be one of the world's biggest fears going forward; is anyone safe? That might be the query we should all consider.

Stimulus Bill is going to be a tight vote - Obama test

It looks as if the Stimulus Bill is going to be a very close vote, but will finally be passed. Of course, we are already forewarned that this is only Part Ii, in fixing the economy, there will be more to follow. Indeed, many are already talking about inflation in the future, which is going to be pretty serious for all. Many political analysts say as long as the bill passes, even with the skin of his teeth, it's a win. It adds political capital for now.

The news you read in the newspaper or see on Tv matters, even if you are merely scanning the headlines to stay informed. What you must do is think about these stories and this facts and rule how this affects you; it matters.

Rapture Or Second Coming? A Sixth discrepancy Refuted

Is there a Biblical dissimilarity in the middle of the "rapture" and the "second coming"? To show that such is the case, our brothers label the rapture "the blessed hope" , a term used by Paul in Titus 2:13, and then they assure us that the final coming could not be a "blessed hope" for the few Christians who live to survive the devastation of the Tribulation. Again here is the using of the closing as part of the proof. The pre-tribulationists are the ones who have divided Jesus' coming into two parts and assigned them names.

How much the saints will be affected by all that goes on while these dark years is not clear. We are called to be persecuted, but not judged. God will sort that out. But we will go straight through it. And we will be greeted by a loving Saviour who understands, because He went straight through earth's rejections.

Peter wrote, 'For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should succeed in his steps.' (I Peter 2:21) ...Some church leaders teach that believing in an imminent pre-trib rapture will influence Christians to live holy lives. But the Scriptures teach, referring to the heavens and earth being destroyed by fire [and not the catching up of the bride], 'Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, seeing for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?...' (Ii Peter 3:11-14)

"There has never been a time when so many Christians believed in an imminent pre-trib rapture and yet the twentieth-century church in America can be characterized by approximately anything but holiness...Paul said, 'We glory in tribulations...tribulation worketh patience'... [Jesus said] 'In the world ye shall have tribulation...' (John 16:33) 'We must straight through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.' (Acts 4:22). 'Blessed are ye, when men shall ...persecute you.' "

Who has more of a "blessed hope" ? The one who looks send to no tribulation, or the one who is in issue now, but is assured that soon the troubles will be gone? The soldier who "hopes" to flee the draft or the one who hopes for the end of the conflict in which he has participated fully? The farmer who "hopes" no bad weather will destroy his crops, or the one who has bravely fought the elements and now sees the fruits of his labor about to blossom in spite of all of nature's blast?

Oh saints! When we sit in a dingy prison cell for our faith in Christ, when all of those whom we hold dear have been taken away, when our stomach is bloated from hunger and our body is mangled from beatings, what a blessed hope is ours! Christ shall come and release us! Christ shall come and restore our Heavenly family! Christ will come and feed us with His own manna, and wash our scars and heal our bodies and we will be with Him forever! Could anything be more of a blessed hope than that?

And is it not equally true that those least seeing for that "blessed hope" today are those for whom life is comfortable and secure? Why "hope" if we have what we need already?

There naturally is no dissimilarity in the middle of the rapture and the second coming. Together, they are our blessed hope!

finding a single Submarine in the Gulf of Mexico is Harder Than You Think!

The United States Navy is very good at picking up sonar readings from submarine motors in big expanses of water. But it isn't as easy as it seems, there is a lot of noise going on in many parts of the world, such as the Gulf of Mexico for instance. It is hard to cut off the sounds of the submarine, from the sounds of tool and other diesel motors which are vibrating on top of oil platforms.

There was recently some intriguing news in the international intelligence realm, which could also be considered conspiracy theory, that a North Korean cargo ship on its way to Venezuela went off course and came within 250 miles from the Bp oil rig which caught on fire and caused this huge eco-disaster oil spill. It was additional asserted that this North Korean cargo ship offloaded a North Korean charge submarine.

News North Korea

And that this was an act of war by North Korea. Of course something like that is totally plausibly deniable, and therefore it disappeared from the world news, roughly as quickly as it was seen. One has to ask if that was possible, the retort is yes it is possible. It is probably unlikely or improbable, but inherent nevertheless. If this is the case, then possibly that's why the United States Navy had so many ships out in the Gulf of Mexico helping the oil spill, maybe they were well seeing for something else.

Would they be able to find a sonar signature from a diesel powered submarine from North Korea in the Gulf of Mexico? It's hard to say, the submarine may have gotten away by then. Or it may be waiting to do even more damage later. It was additional asserted in the conspiracy news record that the population aboard the submarine were part of a North Korean suicide squad. In other words, after they did the attack, they were considered expendable, and thus they may never be found again. Or maybe the sunk the sub and came ashore somewhere?

Let's face it seeing a singular submarine in the entire Gulf of Mexico is harder than you think, and there are lots of places to hide in the varying depth of water, in different places. But if anyone can find a singular submarine in the Gulf of Mexico, either it is Russian, North Korean, or some other nation, it would be the United States Navy which was able to find it. And if they did, the chances are pretty good we'd never know about it.

Perhaps this sounds like a Tom Clancy novel to you, but often real life is stranger than fiction.

Convicted in a North Korean Jail

The stories keep coming in. Following is a relatively recent inventory of a prisoner of the Kim Jong-il regime. Much of it will seem familiar to those who have read this column often. But easily the workings of God in each North Korean are individual. Consider:

Peter [name changed], a North Korean, lived as a refugee in China, where he was found by the protection police and sent back to North Korea. Oh, and he was arrested with his family, that is, with his wife and his six-year-old daughter.

News North Korea

His wife had been a believer since her days in North Korea. Her mother, likewise a believer in Jesus, had waited until she was 16 years of age to share about Jesus with her. It is not safe for a child to bear such costly information, presume North Korea's believing parents. Peter became a believer after they all came to China.

Now, anything sent back to North Korea from China is always asked two questions:

Did you meet any South Koreans there? and Did you go to church there?

Peter said "no" to both questions. I ask you, reader, what would you have said? Is it not a allowable thing to tell untruths to persons such as these are, who destroy lives for no reason? Read on.

While he was incarcerated, a new prisoner was brought in. He was a Chinese man who had come from inland China to North Korea for the expressed purpose of evangelizing North Koreans, even though he could not speak Korean well. Such love from God! He was arrested.

When Peter heard of the Chinese man's story, he was convicted in his heart. He realized that, like the apostle called Peter, he too was denying Christ. First he said he had not met any South Koreans, but especially, he denied going to church while in China.

He confessed his lies to an officer . The officer began torturing him saying, "Even if you would deny Jesus now, we won't let you go." Peter said, "I will continue to evangelize and will never deny Jesus in my heart."

So he told population in the prison about the Savior. And despite the on-going torture by the guard, he experienced joy and developed a hope that he would go to heaven quickly.

Instead, he was released and witnessed to his entire family, who have now been saved, and have started an hidden church. Peter now lives in South Korea.

Being willing to die does not always bring death. Being anxious to live does not always bring life. What is foremost for all of us is, What is the exquisite will of God for my life? Thank you, "Peter", for sharing your story with us and for being true to Jesus.

Ww3, The Nuclear War - Who Will Be The Culprit - Iran, North Korea, Or Russia?

Nuclear power has been a extremely sought after advancement throughout the globe for decades. Some nations have achieved its fruition while others are on the brink of ascertaining its splendid capability. The earth exterior has not been cradled with such a devastating weapon of mass destruction since the Atomic Bomb in Ww2; where the United States obliterated the orients of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. 65 years has now past, nations have moved send generation after generation, but yet the aura of such a catastrophic tool of weaponry still lingers in the air.

It is now 2010, and the quest for nuclear power is still stronger than ever. Money, power, and politics have become a cold dish to serve with a side order of nuclear capability. Security and destruction are the only two items on the menu. Unfortunately, it is suspected that some nations have chosen the latter. Disarmament policies have been industrialized to limit and minimize a nation's nuclear arsenal; however, honesty is not always virtue in regards to a power that is coveted by many. Who can be trusted with such sovereignty of a weapon? Iran, Russia, North Korea, who can make that promise of peace when it only takes the press of a button to turn everything, forever?

News North Korea

Conflict has emerged regarding the matter of nuclear quality and the trustworthiness of its stewardship. Old President Bill Clinton recently emphasized the severity of a global threat that could occur if Iran gained nuclear power. Vice President Biden and Secretary of Sate Hillary Clinton also expressed their concerns on the issue. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, gave his kind words as well; and I paraphrase, "How can a nation that can't even cap and oil spill be trusted with nuclear power?" Nuclear quality or the trustworthiness thereof is always the issue behind the issue.

North Korea is under the microscope as well. They are currently retention an American citizen prisoner. Negotiations are currently being sought after by President Clinton. Only time will enumerate the outcome. Does Kim Jong-il have nuclear quality also? The respond to that query is totally based on inevitability that has occurred already.

It has also been recently reported that eleven Russian spies were captured here on American soil. What's the motive to that? And yes, Russia has nuclear weapon as well. Do you see the pattern? All that it takes is a domino corollary of world leaders with their fingers on the button. World Summits have been held globally throughout the years to encourage peace and disarmament. How affective these meetings of international leaders will be, only time will tell. It has always been feared in the past that such power would be detrimental if located into the wrong hands.

During today's time, the base denominator to be considered "the wrong hands" is the Islamic Republic of Iran. Will they be the culprit of a nuclear surge, catapulting the world into World War 3? And if so, would this be the end of mankind? If all nations launched their weapons of mass destruction upon their enemy, the whole globe would soon be masked with devastation. Man, animals, vegetation, nor bacteria could survive such a catastrophic blow. Most organisms will be disintegrated upon impact as if they never existed, leaving the rest to perish within the blanket of radiation. I guess the end does by comparison the means, taking us back to the beginning of Genesis. "......And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep...." Gen 1:2 (Kjv)

If you corollary the news, you will hear of the heightened concern of our nation in regards to Iran reaching nuclear capability. You will also witness what type of relationship Iran and Israel unmistakably have in regards to war and nuclear advancement. Furthermore, you will observation that North Korea is not on our popularity list either. It appears that the signs of the times have already arrived, and the tension is growing rapidly. World Summits are held globally regarding this matter, meanwhile the conflict in the middle of Palestine and Israel continues to escalate.

Cyberwars are now occurring between nations and governments must be well prepared as it might just be the beginning. It staffs of collective and government organizations should actively partake in industry-leading data protection platforms such as Ec-Council's hacker seminar in order to have the top knowledge and skills to defend their organization's data security.

South Korea government made a press statement recently stating that their Gps signals were jammed in some parts of South Korea and believes North Korea was behind the cyber-attack. Some fear the attacks could even be the first stage of an all-out cyberwar as experts speculated inherent hereafter provocations by the North against South Korean power, traffic, communication, troops and other state infrastructure. The North Korea has been training up a hacker squad since 1986.

News North Korea

The French National It Systems protection division has also made notification regarding the up-to-date attack on French government computers, saying they were targeted by cyber spies.

France's protection agency's director-general, Patrick Pailloux said at a news conference, colse to 150 It staff spent the weekend on a heavy clean-up doing to undo the effects of the attack on computers at the French Ministry of Economy, Finances, and Industry. The attack compromised colse to 150 of the ministry's 170,000 Pcs.

The attack started with a chain of email messages with malware-laden attachments that exploited then-unknown or unprotected flaws in the software running on the ministry's Pcs. The messages were addressed to ministry staff of all levels, and alleged to come from colleagues or regular correspondents elsewhere, while the attachments appeared to review to their work, Pailloux said.

Trojan horse software was installed on the Pcs once the attachments were opened. Under the control of the unidentified attackers, that software was then used to compromise other Pcs, to send data out of the ministry inexpressive in other Internet traffic, and finally to cover up its activities.

Pailloux said the attackers had gained entrance to mailboxes and servers over the policy of some weeks. It took the division a week to outline out what the Trojan horse was doing, and just how far it had spread.

Pailloux declined to comment on who might be behind the attack, although he did reply that it resembled an attack on Canadian government It systems last month. That attack was initially blamed on the Chinese, an accusation the Chinese speedily denied.

It is believed that Cybercriminals who were operating in China hacked the computers of some Canadian government departments recently and may have accessed indispensable financial and weapons information.

Charles Burton, a professor of Chinese politics at Brock University in Ontario, told Cbc News, "Canada has entrance to secrets that are shared with other Western commercial countries, with regard to sophisticated weaponry. And the Chinese government would have strong interest in getting hold of technologies,"

It's possible, Burton added, that the hackers were also going after sensitive data about Canada's oil and gas resources. Chinese officials have denied any involvement in the attacks.

It professionals can increase their knowledge by participating in hacker seminar that provides a platform to assess the best practices in acquiring, implementing, managing and measuring data security. Hacker Halted is a premier It protection seminar for data protection professionals all over the world who are seeing to heighten their knowledge on any aspects of data Security. At this hacker conference, they will be able to partake in seminar and data protection conference, and will have the unique opportunity to assess and be best informed about the most recent technologies and the best solutions that are being showcased all in one place. The Sarah Palin Gaffe Gap

Since Sarah Palin has been on the national scene, there has been an increase in the number of attention paid to gaffes committed by politicians.

Much sport was had with Homeland safety Secretary Janet Napolitano's botched catalogue on how safe the American habitancy are from terrorist attacks when she said "thousands of habitancy (are) working 24/7, 364 to keep the American habitancy safe." News pundits wondered jocularly over the airwaves which day of the year we need to concern ourselves over.

News North Korea

President Barack Obama was on a cross country, barnstorming tour, when he told a rally of supporters he had just visited 57 states -- which was more like 57 cities. Much airtime was given to spinning his blunder to advise the old law professor of a prestigious American university didn't know how many states there are in the Us.

Sarah Palin who ordinarily has a tough time accepting responsibility for her own actions, in defense of her
North-Korea-is-an-ally-of-the-Us blunder, deflected to the President's "57 states" gaffe and said she knew North Korea was not an ally of the Us, but that Obama's gaffe was worse than the one she committed.

Perhaps Palin does know that North Korea is not an American ally. But when she ran for Vp, she could not name the three countries that make up the North American continent, plan Africa was a country, and had no idea where the Gaza Strip is located. But even so, it can be safely said that Obama's blunder is similar to the kind he ordinarily makes, while Palin's North Korea gaffe is atypical for her.

The Typical Sarah Palin Gaffe

For an example of a typical Palin gaffe, take the time she was advancing one of her Gop talking points in a news interview with regard to Rowe vs. Wade. Palin argued that the issue of abortion was a State's rights issue and that the supreme Court often ruled on issues that should be decided by the state. She was then asked to name other such decision by the Court she plan should have been decided by the states. The nominee for vice president drew a blank slate. She was then asked -- what many of her followers would call a "got'cha" question -- if she could name Any other supreme Court decisions. Call it what you will, "blunder," "poor performance" or "act of folly," but the Vp candidate was unable to name a particular supreme Court case. That is a typical Sarah Palin gaffe.

The media scenery is littered with examples of the typical Palin gaffe. In other instance, Palin visible to a rally of followers the Gop's reason-things-don't-get-done-in-Washington talking point. She made light of her opponent, Joe Biden's age, and said he was delivering the same speech since She was in the second grade. Later Mrs. Palin was asked to reconcile her comment with regard to Biden's age and longevity with that of her running mate, John McCain, who was older than Biden and had been in Congress just as long. other got'cha by the "lame stream" media.

Not since Dan Quayle was the Gop Vp has the comedy circuit had so much political material to work with. Perhaps, many comics have their beloved Sarah Palin gaffe such as the often cited, I-can-see-Russia-from- my-house,-therefore-I-have-foreign-policy-experience gaffe.

Others favor the 2008 Vp televised consider with Biden where she would duck a question by saying she wanted to talk directly to the American people, at which time she ran off several Gop garden range talking points. Some in the media later called this a clever strategy -- which didn't appear to be because by the second or third time she pulled this dodge, she was just repeating herself.

For me, her most new gaffes are ordinarily my favorite. Like recently when she attempted to ridicule First Lady Michelle Obama's anti-obesity message to American moms with the Gop talking point: "Government should get off the backs of individuals and let them settle what's best for themselves." Apparently no one told her the Senate got on board with Michelle and recently passed legislation calling for best nutritional food in schools, with every Republican voting in favor.

This foot-in-mouth faux pas makes Palin waaay out of touch even with her own party, with Mike Huckabee, Palin's dream running mate in 2012, announcing his maintain for the First Lady's campaign, and the Wall road Journal suggesting that Palin is maybe "too simple-minded to perceive which Obama policies to go after."

all the time Winter, But Never Christmas

Always winter, never Christmas. Thus it was spoken of the land of Narnia in the C.S. Lewis classic, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.". This is the unthinkable for a small child, and for bigger kids too, an unbroken winter. Such, it seems to me, is the plight for these many decades in North Korea. verily there are spirited moments. And Christ Himself has entered this heart and that. But in the main, the land is in darkness. That was the thought going straight through my head this Christmas Eve morning as I prayed for North Korea. A Scripture formed in my thinking and I realized I was in Isaiah, chapters 8 and 9.

This is the classic tube of Christ advent to Galilee, and to the world, bringing His dazzling Light to a desperate planet. It was desperate when He first came, it will be even more desperate when He comes again. And a photograph of that desperation is daily painted for us by reflecting on old and modern Chosun. It was North Korea that I was looking as I heard these words inside. They are spoken from the vantage point of a future time, when the regime has changed forever...

News North Korea

(8:22) Then they will look to the earth, and see problem and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they [Chosun] will be driven into darkness. (9:2-4) The population who walked in darkness [Chosun] have seen a great light [Jesus]. Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death [Chosun] , upon them a light has shined. You [Jesus] have multiplied the nation and increased its joy. They rejoice before You agreeing to the joy of harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For You [Jesus] have broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor..

(9:6-7) For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given. And the government [of Chosun and the world] will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, distinguished God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the growth of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and manufacture it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will achieve this.

We may not know God's timing, but we know His heart, His zeal. This message is not welcomed with enthusiasm by most present world leaders, who can't accept that they and their dynasties are limited by the hand of the God they ignore. But when it's all over, only Jesus reigns! Lord haste the day! And support Your population until then.

American Media Could Learn From Miner recovery in Chile

I watched Michael Moore's film Bowling for Columbine a few days ago. In the movie Mr. Moore depicts how American News is full of violent paranoia induced broadcasts over and over again. Robbery, crime, assault, rape all can be seen within ½ of a news broadcast.

At the time I had seen that I began to reflect. If you want to know what the largest YouTube hits and most favorite categories are they are not of crime and war they are more or less good-natured Americans enjoying life. They are of animals. They are of moments in our life that bring us enjoyment singing, family, and children. All in good fun, sometimes goofy, sometimes creative, but Nonetheless a option of what people these days prefer to watch. There is no advertising on YouTube for the most part. There is no gimmick no hype or build up. There is just a situation and if someone has an emotional reaction to it they will pick to share it with their friends. There is a conjecture these get millions and millions of hits, because these miniature snippets make us feel good.

News North Korea

On Newscasts we the people cannot make that determination we would like to be updated with happenings in the area and are then subdued to approx 20 minutes of all the drama that occurred while the day. A home invasion, A drug bust, crime in our neighborhood... Ordinarily a small feel-good piece then the weather and sports.

With few people controlling the media there is miniature wonder why this is the case. Take Nbc for example.... You have Nbc local, Msnbc, Cnbc (three cut off channels) but the same Ceo controlling what is seen and what is not. Murdoch owns Fox and Disney own their own subject of Networks. A total of 4 persons control our News and data (excluding the internet) but with Aol owned by Time Warner doesn't the Web seem like it's heading that way too.

So should news outlets not get a clue when a dancing kitten gets millions of hits that this is what American needs. Not necessarily Dancing Kittens but I think you get the idea. How about the people that succeeded throughout the day...the stories of victories, the homes that were purchased or donated, a spotlight on non-profits, good things politicians have done (there are some), Success stories, stories of bravery, and heroism. Spotlight the good in humans. I understand for public awareness there needs to be some degree of exposure but wouldn't this make the world and our country seem a miniature better.

Now comes the saving of the Chilean Miners. There is no finger pointing, there is no look to blame, and there is no sponsorship. This is a story of human survival, human strength, and human heroism. The way the world should be seen. Amid all of this it has been picked up by the World. The World watches along with North Korea whom we fault for lack of media and censorship.

Imagine if this was an American Story. There none the less would be Marketing Promotions all over. The Miners Would wear Adidas Windcreakers as they are brought up by a crane sponsored by an guarnatee business riddled with Logo's ( I can see it now, "picking you up when you are down". The Glasses would have a Ray Ban logo. They would be carried in a bucket labeled Kfc as they advertise their new 3.33 meal deal.. They would be given "Chile Miner 33" hats that would soon be sold on Qvc, shout out " I'm going to Disney world ". There would be a pop-up on our television informing us of the new Miner Series advent out in two weeks based on a concentrate of miners who Fall down a well after a terrorist attack, turn into vampires, and flee to fight corrupt government spies and compete in Dancing competitions.... Don't miss Deep Bites in 3-D the screen would flash.

When younger and having no clue I watched a Children's series The Great Space Coaster. One of the segments was Gary Gnu. At the end of each broadcast he would sign off by saying' "This Is Gary Gnu. And The No Gnews Is Good Gnews Show. The Only Tv Gnews schedule Guaranteed To contain No Gnews Whatsoever." Maybe we would be a miniature better off this way.

Is God Punishing Mankind When Natural Disasters Strike?

Sometimes in the midst of tragedy the isolation of self is swallowed up in the unification of Care and Compassion for all thereby uniting the un-unified...

On March 11th 2011 everyone's eyes turned towards Japan in discover of the terrible natural disasters that pounded humanity, twice over....first an earthquake followed with the tsunami that engulfed many villages, peoples, and Japanese communities, well swallowing them up.

News North Korea

Knowing that so many people were suffering, and would continue to suffer, well upset me and I could not keep these thoughts from replaying in my mind. I have known that one of the most seemingly impossible tasks one can ever undertake is the rebuilding of ones life, and more importantly, one's hopes to feel happy again in life after undergoing such devastation and tragedy.

So on March 15th I was at the gym and an Asian woman sat near me. Because of the recentness of these events, I wanted to ask her if she had any house affected by the incidents in Japan though I did not want to appear to stereotype her; knowing that just because one has slanted eyes does not mean they are Japanese. So I asked with apologetics, "I am not trying to stereo-type here, but are you from Japan because I was wondering if you or your house had been affected by the up-to-date earthquake and tsunami?"

This someone smiled and said, "I am not Japanese, I am Chinese, though I was born in Vietnam, so I guess I am Vietnamese of Chinese decent." She then added, "No, I have no house there." Well I did end up feeling a minuscule odd for asking her the, "are you Japanese" question; and I was glad I did not offend her; however, what she said next well shocked me.... She asked me if I were Christian...

Then she added, "I think God is punishing Japan for being so greedy and stealing the border lands of China and Russia; adding because they did this, God is punishing them....

Wow I thought, am I hearing this? Later that same day I heard that a well known public media personality had insinuated the same idea, which had not been well received. O.K. Then, let's look at these very complicated and stereo-typed mindsets; and let's look at why people form the confidence patterns that they do. What are the influencing factors that cause them to formulate these beliefs?

Disasters Occur when Hazards meet Vulnerability... By definition, a natural disaster is the supervene of a natural hazard (e.g., flood, tornado, hurricane, volcanic eruption, earthquake, or landslide). It leads to financial, environmental, or human losses. The resulting loss depends on the vulnerability of the affected people to resist the hazard. This is also referred to as their resilience. This insight is concentrated in the formulation that: "disasters occur when hazards meet vulnerability."

A natural hazard will therefore never supervene in a natural disaster in areas without vulnerability, e.g. Strong earthquakes in uninhabited areas pose no threat to human vulnerability. The term natural has consequently been disputed because the events plainly are not hazards or disasters without human involvement. So it appears that the laws of nature apply in that occurrences of natural events are just that, natural events; and that they will only become a disaster in the sense that they are able to disrupt life or the living. It is prominent to remember that in nature erosion is a necessity in the process of re-building environmental life structure itself.

Therefore human involvement in these natural events will decree the influence of the event as being a disaster or a part of plainly occurring events in the process of living nature itself. Japan is a heavily congested area; I believe the last I heard the people ratio per mile was at 3000 people per mile. It is therefore only logical to understand that when a natural environmental incident occurs in a heavily populated area, that it will have a devastating supervene on the vulnerabilities encountered in a heavily populated region of land that is, due to its people ratio vulnerable and therefore un-prepared to face such an encounter.

In this way the natural occurrence becomes a plainly occurring disaster towards the humanity within a vulnerable area. What is God? So with this in mind, is God Punishing Japan; or are there external influencing factors? What is God? More importantly, what are the attributes of a God? If we believe that God is a living being; and also that God created the life forces found within nature itself, then it would be prominent to assess the purpose of God as a Life inventor as pertains to the occurrences of natural hazards, e.g. Natural disasters and how these events counter-balance each other within the context of whether these events are supportive to the furtherance of environmental life itself; or whether they are plainly causal effects of supplementary and/or external environmental influencing factors.

As in example, and earthquake causes a displacement of earth mass prominent to a tsunami in coastal regions. An earthquake is a response to other external influencer found in nature, such as in the shifting of earth mass, which can be caused by other influencing factor such as the shifting of gravitational polarities. So in this context, is it rational to assume that these natural events are being caused by a God so that he can use them to destroy the very life he originally created? Or are these things merely the forces of nature found in Natural Life itself?

Let's look at this....

By definition God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator, an overseer of the universe if you will. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many distinct conceptions of God. The most base among these comprise omniscience (infinite knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), omnipresence (present everywhere), omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, an eternal and necessary existence as the creation force of the living. It is direct confidence that influences a person's outlook...

Many people have formed beliefs in varied Gods as may pertain to their personal religions. For all individuals, it is their direct confidence that influences their out look on both their lives and that of their perceptions of what God is. Jesus was considered to be the Son of God; and yet, even as a God; he found himself vulnerable to the natural occurrences of human nature, and in that way was crucified by nature of other form, e.g. Natural man. And yet, Jesus said these things of Man, "You are Gods in that the spirit of God dwells in you." Jesus also said of God, "God is Love and Light, in him there is no darkness at all."

So it appears that the force of life, light, creation, and life existence all comes about because of God's Love for Life, (as in all living things, together with you and me.) I have noticed that even though an attribute of God is defined as omnipotence, one having (unlimited power), there is no extinguishing of free will, free evolution, pertaining to any created living thing. All life forms are chronic on their natural paths. However, mankind has, (as in the semblance of a God, e.g. A God Man, is the only life form having the ability to the attainment of conscious development prominent to the processes of freewill choice); as such man is the only living creature that is capable of pre-destination.

This gives mankind the god-like ability to convert the policy and nature of events in his life. Man can control his own destiny; not as with the environmental courses of nature which will all the time supervene a predictable pattern agreeing to the external environmental forces applied to themselves which promote a reaction straight through their external influences. In the news recently I read due to the nuclear armament action occurring within the borders of North Korea that North Korea has had to seek economic relief from China and Russia because of the economic embargos located on this region by America in response to this nuclear armament.

The American positions on these nuclear armament activities were causing greater separation of unilateral supportive bargaining and cooperation in the middle of America, China, North Korea, and Russia. Japan was vulnerably located in the middle of these disputes also dependent upon these regions for its economic trade. Due to these up-to-date tragedies though, America has come to the aide of Japan supplying very technological avionics to retain the rescue and relief efforts in Japan.

This in turn has now caused civil disputes linked to nuclear armament treaties to be supplanted with a unilateral compassionate rescue and resource outreach within these regions thus serving as a clear influence towards the end of civil unrest and (for now), the threat of nuclear armament prominent to war. So, to me, it seems that it is not only the forces of nature advent to a civilization in the form of natural catastrophes that threaten mankind; but it is mankind himself that has inherent to become his worst and tragic influencer towards the destruction of the life and the living of his own species.

Were we to become like true God Men and Women we would see the value of life, and instead of trying to find ways to destroy it; we would be actively working towards the retain of life for all regardless of their position on the planet. God, in great love, and as divine love itself straight through life creation, has given to man the ability to precise the policy of his own life and save himself.

If we are spending time judging other group of people and assuming that a god of the living would instigate death, destruction, and suffering; then truly we are not fulfilling our ability to be very conscious human beings. Equilibrium your rational mind with your heart of compassion, that would be my advice, for it is only straight through the influence of imbalance that tragedy arises.
